Product trends
Trending products often sell fast. They catch attention because they feel fresh, useful, or exciting. Some include new features or designs that make them stand out. The challenge is spotting trends early enough to benefit before competitors do.
How to identify product trends?
1. Monitor social media
Social media offers real-time insight into what people are talking about. Comments and posts often reveal what customers want right now.
- Reddit: Join subreddits in your niche. Active discussions often point to products gaining traction.
- Pinterest: Browse popular pins for ideas. Fancy is another site that mixes media with trending product finds.
- Instagram: Search niche hashtags, follow influencers, and track the items they promote.
2. Check product review sites
Websites and magazines dedicated to product reviews are valuable sources for trend research. A few to check regularly include:
- Cool Material
- Bless This Stuff
- Huckberry
- HiConsumption
Industry trend publications also help you see where customer demand is heading on a broader scale.
3. Use YouTube
YouTube is the second-largest search engine. Search for “best products” in your niche and review videos with high views and recent uploads. Check comments to see how audiences respond.
4. Explore online marketplaces
Marketplaces highlight what shoppers are buying right now.
- Amazon: Check Movers and Shakers for products with rapid sales growth, or Best Sellers for updated daily rankings by category.
- eBay: Use eBay Watch Count to see what people save most often. eBay Trending shows search data for popular items.
- AliExpress: Browse popular items and order in small quantities to test demand.
- Etsy: Look through Etsy’s trending section for handmade or unique products with rising demand.
- Kickstarter: The Discover page showcases projects gaining momentum. Many highlight future consumer trends.
5. Track Google Trends
Google Trends shows whether interest in a product is rising or falling. Enter a keyword to see demand over time and across regions. This helps compare today’s interest against previous years and identify seasonal spikes.
